Penstemon is the tall, spiky plant with little white flowers. The leaves come up bright purple but fade to green as buds and flowers form. That bright colored hosta near the base is called Orange Marmalade. I’ve had it several years but it barely grew until, last year, I moved it to the front of this bed where it gets more of the morning light. It seems much happier where it is now. The old watering can was a gift that immediately sprang a leak. Though it’s no longer useful as a watering can, it makes a nice planter. It holds a shamrock plant, which spends the winter in the sun room where it continues to put out flowers all during the cold months, but it really comes into its own when it’s moved back outside in the spring.
