more hostas in bloom

10 Jun

Frankly, I’d be just as pleased if hostas didn’t bloom; I much prefer the leaves to the flowers, but the different varieties do produce different types of blooms. The standard green hosta sends out many very long stems and pink buds that turn white as they flower. The blue-leafed hosta (I think this one is called ‘big blue’) produces short, thick stems and lavender flowers, while the golden plantain has flowers that are barely lavender, almost white.
