comfrey

comfrey 2013 003The comfrey is just coming into bloom.  It’s planted in a double row next to the pondcomfrey 2013 012and in a single row edging the lawn (or as much as I’ve gotten planted so far).  I’m still working on dividing plants and hope to eventually have the entire lawn edged with comfrey.  comfrey 2013 004The flowers will become more plentiful as time goes on and will continue for about 6 weeks in sunny areas, like those near the pond, while some of the plants that edge the lawn will stop flowering in about 4 weeks as the bushes planted in back of them block the light.  At that point, they become just a nice, bushy edging plant.

Nice. Its compost is a very good fertilizer to the soil.
