peach-colored azalea

6 May

azaleas 007I’ve had this tiny little bush for five or six years — in fact, I started with four of them but the other three died the first year.  Every year it develops a few leaves but then looks like it’s going to die and I have to cut it back severely to try to save the green part.  Last year it had a few buds but nothing else.  Finally, this year it managed to bloom.   After all this time, it’s still only about a foot tall.   It lives in a small garden around the catalpa tree in the front yard, and if it ever grows to full size the other plants probably will have to be moved out of the way.azaleas 008

Wow, that is a small plant. Wonder if it will get big over time?

It’s actually smaller than when I first bought it because I’ve had to cut it back each year as it looked like it was dying off. Maybe now that it’s actually started to bloom it will also start to grow.
